Chevron Says has been a little quiet lately, but here are some updates about happenings around La Salle. Some of these are courtesy of university spokesman Jon Caroulis (These would be the ones with the links attached to La Salle’s site). Some of this stuff you may have already seen, so apologies for that. When we get back on campus this Saturday we should have some juicier updates.
Campus Expansion Info - If you haven’t been on campus at all, a lots going on. Holroyd’s gutted and they’ve started the “Skywalk” or “elevated walking path” or what-have-you to West Campus. La Salle is getting vertical.
Who’s gonna fix Iraq? – La Salle alum William Burns joins a delegation to the Middle East. And oh by the way he is Under Secretary of State. Not to sound star-struck, but really? Sounds kind of important.
Brother Gerry on Indiana Jones – You’d be surprised how often Brother Gerry Molyneaux pops up on my Google alert.
More La Salle pros – Women’s soccer players Kristen Hextall (yeah that Hextall), Kim Lisun and Michelle Verzi signed contracts to play professionally in Europe.
Move over Frank Visco – Student J.T. (you may know him as Jeff) Quigley documented his trip to China last summer with journalism professor and former Inquirer writer Huntly Collins.
Best summer job – Baseball player Jim Malloy played center field and hit lead-off for the North Adams SteepleCats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. In 157 at-bats, Malloy is hitting .331 with 2 HR and 12 RBI. He also leads the team with nine doubles and 69 total bases.
More updates to come later.
