Thanks to a tip from a friend of CS, I found that La Salle’s Funding Board published its results to budget requests submitted by student organizations. This really shouldn’t have been a surprise to me, because all rulings of Funding Board are in the weekly information circular Campus News; these rulings were no different.
Organizations receiving the most money:
1. Explorer Yearbook – $36,610
2. Fellowship of Community and University Service (FOCUS) – $31,595
3. Masque – $22,715
4. African American Student League (AASL) – $19,750.86
5. Resident Students Association (RSA) – $19,185
It should be noted that 25 organizations were considered by CS for this list. The Athletic Department was not considered; it received $96,500.
Additionally, all the above figures were determined by the Funding Board after reviewing budget proposals by the organizations. The Funding Board is largely composed by members of the Students Government Association, but it also includes members from other organizations and two staff co-chairs — Pete Lafferty and Chris Kazmierczak.
Many organizations requested much more money than they ultimately received. Below is the top five organizations with the biggest difference in funding requested and funding received. Organizations in the first top five listed were not included in this list:
1. Lacrosse Club (men’s) — Requested: $31,693.60 Received: $15,155 Difference: $16,538.60
2. Ice Hockey Club — Requested: $24,556 Received: $12,406 Difference: $12,150
3. UMAS/Retreat Planning Committee — Requested: $13,900 Received: $2,235 Difference: $11,665
4. Rugby Union — Requested: $19,932 Received: $14,657 Difference: $5,275
5. Backpac — Requested: $11,411.60 Received: $6,411.60 Difference: $5,000

And, if you were curious, the Collegian asked for $19,745 and received $15,975, a difference of $3,500.
