Maybe The Philadelphia Inquirer has been reading posts on CS or articles from the Collegian, but either way former Collegian Commentary Mag editor and soon-to-be La Salle alum Mark Costello received a nice write-up last week.
Discussing all that is goes with commencement addresses, the piece started with a pretty in depth look at what Costello is enduring prior to delivering his speech to the Class of 2008 Sunday at McCarthy Stadium (or the Haymann Center, if there’s some bad weather).
The story talks to Costello, Dean of Students Dr. Joseph Cicala and Costello’s mom. Here’s one interesting part:
After [Costello] was selected, committee members suggested revisions, and a professor coached him in public speaking to get ready for the big day. With so many people weighing in, some of the advice was confusing – one person wanted him to talk faster while another thought he should slow down – but overall it helped, he said.
Some pretty accomplished people are interviewed, including one of my personal favs PBS anchor Gwen Ifill. Read the piece here.
